What We Believe
Beliefs:
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, that salvation is in Jesus Christ only and is an act of faith alone that produces a changed life that delights in serving Christ as Lord.
History:
Friendship Baptist Church started as a home Bible study in the Fiskdale area in 1987 sponsored by Grace Baptist Church in Millbury, Ma. By the end of that year arrangements were made to begin worship services in the building the church now occupies.
In the summer of 1988, Robert (Bob) Wellner, a then recent graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, was called to be the first pastor. Friendship Baptist Church was constituted on May 21, 1989. Since then, many ministries and outreaches to the neighboring communities have established the church family as a spiritual lighthouse to the area.
Our lovely 1830’s congregational style building has been renovated but retains charming features such as the working bell in the steeple. An annex building and parking lot have been added in the back to provide classroom space and a meeting hall for fellowship. With the purchase of land on Rt. 20, arrangements are now under way to construct a recreation area and expansion of our facilities. Our Men and Women’s groups seek to serve the local community as well as support mission work around the globe. Active children and youth ministries as well as small group studies promote personal spiritual growth.
Membership:
Our membership is open to those who have come to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and have followed Him in believer’s baptism.
We encourage discipleship and service to the body.
Worship Services:
We welcome all to visit our services and to participate as the Lord leads. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper monthly and welcome any born again, baptized believers to join us at the table.
