Our Mission - to glorify God, to exalt Christ, to make Christ known, and to spread the Good News of salvation through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone!

We are a Southern Baptist Church...but that doesn't mean we all speak with Southern accents (although a few of our folks DO)! In essence, being a Southern Baptist Church simply means that we believe that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to be saved. We also believe the following:

  • We believe the Bible is God-inspired and God-breathed. God used men to write down His message exactly the way He wanted and it is His revelation of Himself to man.

                2 Timothy 3:16

  • We believe there is only one living true God who reveals Himself in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

                1 Corinthians 8:6, Matthew 28:19

  • We believe Jesus Christ is the fully divine, co-eternal Son of God, who became fully human, born of the virgin Mary. He suffered, died, was buried and on the third day He rose again.

                Matthew 1: 23, 25, Matthew 27: 59, 60, Matthew 28: 5, 6

  • We believe salvation involves the redemption of man through repentance toward God and genuine faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is freely offered to all who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.

                John 3: 16; Acts 20: 21, Ephesians 2: 8-9

  • We believe that, once saved, all are kept, by God's power, in Christ forever.

                John 10: 27-30; Romans 8: 38-39

  • We believe Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water following a genuine profession of faith in Jesus Christ alone as Lord and Savior. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior. It represents the believer's death to sin, the burial to life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Jesus Christ.

                Acts 8: 36, 39, Romans 6: 4

  • We believe the Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience, offered and received on a regular basis, so that Christians remember the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

                1 Corinthians 11: 23-26

There are many other beliefs that Southern Baptists hold. You can see those by reading the 2010 Baptist Faith and Message (link on right-hand side of page).

As a Southern Baptist Church, we accomplish our work of spreading the Gospel in partnership with two Southern Baptist entities: the Baptist Convention of New England (BCNE) which is a regional association; and through the Massachusetts Baptist Association (MBA), a state association of local SBC churches. Through our partnerships with both the BCNE and the MBA, we have opportunities to work with other churches of like mind to reach more people for Christ! We also work directly in our own community of Brimfield, looking to make an impact for Christ in our town, the surrounding towns and around the world through a variety of outreach and service opportunities.

That's a brief look at the beliefs of Friendship Baptist Church, where we are committed to the solitary, life-saving message that only Jesus saves! Come and join us on the great adventure God has called us to!
